Fracture
#18, By Russel Remains
Nathaniel Green, Down To You Then, Supergirl
First impressions of this release should give you an idea of
the sumptuous sounds within, with a handsome card-folded screen-printed
sleeve that all works so well to contain the disc and a small
photo booklet. And once the disc has been extracted from this
deladence it won't let you down either - six tracks of simple
and strikingly honest music from two guys. Matt from DUGONG
provides the guitars and vocals and Rob sympathetically fills
the songs with beautiful rhodes piano, hammond, vocals and harmonica.
It would be a lazy reviewer that compared it to an 'unplugged'
DUGONG but well, the sound is patently there, and anyway that
would be a good comparison for any band to get.
You could also
suggest a few threads the THE NEW AMSTERDAMS with added keys
and warmth that is inspiring. These songs are constructed with
a purity that leaves them naked, and thats where the ingenuity
lies - in music that is liad open for all to hear the emotion
and integrity they convey. No standout song from the six on
offer becasue each one stands out on it's own. Hopefully NATHANIEL
GREEN will be an ongoing partnership because I really can't
recommend this record highly enough. |
